Cliff
Cole on Hammered Dulcimer |
||
| Cliff Cole, has been playing hammered dulcimer since 1985. He saw his first hammered dulcimer at the Philadelphia folk festival in 1983. Two years latter, at the same festival, he saw John McCutcheon play. He bought his first dulcimer that year. Cliff’s background is in percussion. Since the age of fifteen, Cliff has played the drums in various groups including Rock, Blues, Jazz and folk ensembles. He started playing dulcimer in a bluegrass group in 1987. That group, named “Steel City Strings”, played at the 1988 Bethlehem Musikfest. His current group, DayBreak has been together for more than a decade and a half. The group has delved into many musical styles including Celtic, old time, American folk and early music. The group has composed many original tunes, and traditional arrangements. |
